Jessie Hecht, CPDT-KA, CGC Evaluator

Training and Behavior Consultant

Originally from New Jersey, Jessie moved to Colorado in 2010 to earn her degree in Special Education K-12 from Metro State University of Denver.

After a couple years of teaching, Jessie got her first dog, a high-drive and challenging German Shorthaired Pointer (GSP). She found her passion for positive reinforcement dog training after working with a trainer who was a pioneer in positive reinforcement gun dog training and eventually worked for that person as a trainer herself. Under the guidance of that trainer for several years, Jessie enjoyed helping hundreds of clients and their dogs achieve various goals such as leash walking, off-leash reliability around prey animals, and overcoming leash reactivity. Jessie is particularly passionate about starting puppies and their families out on the right foot, and in 2021 she created curriculum and started teaching the company’s Puppy Class.

Rescue work has always been something Jessie has been a part of in some capacity, from collecting donations for local rescues and shelters as a kid to fostering cats. In 2020 she started volunteering, training and fostering dogs for All Points West GSP Rescue.

Jessie is the owner and founder of Good Karma Dog Training, LLC, through which she helps clients in person and via distance coaching. Shortly before moving to the Boulder area in 2023, Jessie joined the Training and Behavior team at HSBV.

Jessie shares her home with 3 dogs (one an HSBV alum) and a cat. In her spare time, she enjoys hiking, running and traveling. She also participates in dock diving with her Australian Cattle Dog.
