Shannon grew up in Wyoming with many pets which reinforced her natural love of all animals. While in college, she worked at the Denver Aquarium where she first learned about and became interested in force-free, science-based positive reinforcement training. Shannon graduated from Metro State University with a BA in Biology and began working at the Humane Society of Boulder Valley. Passionate about animal care, Shannon launched a dog daycare and pet boarding facility in Boulder which she owned and operated for 18 years. Upon selling her business and graduating from the Karen Pryor Academy as a Certified Training Partner, she returned to the Humane Society of Boulder Valley joining HSBV’s training and behavior department where she supports Puppy Club, group training classes and behavior modification for shelter animals.
Shannon shares her home with two dogs, Nimbus and Hashbrown; kitten sisters, Stubs and GooseBarry; a very old Pygmy Goat, and her husband, Ben.
