At the Humane Society of Boulder Valley (HSBV), we believe every person and pet deserves to be seen. They aren’t statistics; they are our neighbors with real lives, real struggles, and a fierce, unconditional love for their pets.
Our commitment to families like Adamari’s, who adopted Milo in 2018, doesn’t end when they leave our building.
Milo suffered a devastating tail injury. The wound quickly became excruciating, requiring immediate amputation. Adamari adores Milo, and like many families facing sudden, expensive emergency care, the bill was impossible for her family to afford. With heartbreak in her voice, she called us, asking the unbearable question:
Would they have to give up their beloved pet so he could get the life-saving care he needed?
This is the invisible choice some face – the moment when financial hardship threatens to break a loving family apart. For those struggling, the choice is often made in silence, unseen by the community.
We know you see them, just like we do. Because of compassionate supporters like you, we were able to step in. A medical grant covered Miloās surgery, and heās now home, healing and happy. Their family stayed together.Ā ā¤ļø
But, weāre seeing more families than ever facing that same impossible choice. And, with the recent suspension of SNAP (Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program) benefits, many of our neighbors are struggling even more to meet their basic needs. When putting food on the table becomes more difficult, an unexpected vet bill or the rising cost of pet food can force devastating choices.
You can help shine a light on these unseen families.
We cannot support these families without you. Your gift ensures no one in our community has to choose between feeding their family and keeping it whole. Thank you.
