Natalie Weld, CDBC, CPDT-KA

A New Yorker who moved to Denver, Colorado in the summer of 2024, Natalie is an animal-welfare scientist with a Masters of Science degree in animal behavior and welfare from University of Pennsylvania Penn Vet. She is a certified dog behavior consultant (CDBC) with the International Association of Animal Behavior Consultants (IAABC) and is on IAABC’s legislation committee. Natalie is also a CPDT-KA, is Fear Free Shelter certified, and was previously a behavior consultant for the rescue Mr. Bones & Co. Natalie is the CEO, founder and primary educator of the positive reinforcement and humane dog training and behavior company The Scallywag Dog, helping both humans and dogs virtually throughout the USA and in person in Colorado.

Along with her experience as a dog behavior consultant, Natalie is also an internationally and nationally award-winning and nominated union actor working in film, theatre and television. As an animal-welfare scientist, actor, and socio-cultural anthropologist, Natalie’s pilot field research showed promising findings on how cinematic storytelling can be crafted to increase public empathy and compassion towards pit-bull-type breeds and their caretakers.

Natalie resides in Denver, Colorado with her one-eyed pup, Pearl.
